Halloween Haunt
October 21st, 11am-2pm, Maya Lin.

Our annual community event focuses on the fun of Halloween! Feel free to invite your family, friends, and neighbors. Costumes are encouraged for all ages! Go Green by bringing your water bottles. We’ve added a few new games and a prize table. Our popular activities like cake walk, selfie photo booth and creepy corpse will be back.

Tickets for games and food are 2 for $1 and can be purchased at the PTA table every school morning from 8:00am-8:30am starting Friday, Oct. 13 through next Friday, October 21st. You can also purchase your tickets in the school office during after school hours. Donations and volunteers drive this event.

Also, are you a regular school volunteer? If you haven't gotten your Live Scan done yet, the PTA still has some spots left for 72% reimbursement of the $69 Live Scan fee. The first 28 people to sign up here can fill out a reimbursement form for $50.

Social Justice and Equity Committee Meeting

October 24th 6:30-8pm, Multipurpose Room

Come meet a collection of parents and faculty responding to the current climate and being proactive in implementing policies and protocols for raising awareness and creating the means by which parents, teachers, and students can develop and nurture a deeper understanding of ourselves and others, as well as practice harm reduction and repair. Child care provided for school-aged kids.

Walk and Roll to School

November 1st 8am-8:20am

Walk and Roll to School Day is generally the 1st Wednesday of the month. Help us save the planet by not polluting the air that day. Did you know that 50% of the Bay Area's Greenhouse gas emissions are from cars? Let's keep it cool (not hot) and walk or roll to school the first Wednesday of every month.

PTA Meeting
November 2nd, 6-8pm, Multipurpose Room

Come join the PTA. Dinner and childcare provided. (Kids must be school-aged to qualify for childcare.)

Maya Lin Garden Open House

Please join Brooke Porter, Maya Lin's Garden Educator, for a Garden Open House on Wednesday, October 11th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Brooke will be sharing her work in the garden and plans for the school year, and the Garden Expansion Committee will share plans for Phase 1 of garden expansion planning. We'll have food and music, and tables set up for relaxing and meeting your fellow garden enthusiasts. All kids are welcome, of course! See you there!

Welcome to Maya Lin PTA

We're very excited about this school year! We're bringing back and expanding all of our popular programs from last year and plan on rolling out some new ones too. To make it all happen, we're going to need your help and support. September is our membership drive month and our goal is 100% membership and to raise $15,000 in direct donations from Maya Lin School supporters like you. We're asking for donations of $100 per family during September. Every donation counts, big or small, so please donate what you can. PTA membership and donation envelopes are in office and can be returned to the office or to your teacher. Membership is $12 per person.

What does the PTA do?
  1.  We fund a wide variety of programs that benefit all students, including field trips and transportation (Did you know it costs $800 to rent 1 bus for 1 fieldtrip?), the media center and library, science through garden education, music instruction, field day, assemblies, teacher grants and more.  More than $50,000 is raised each year and invested into the student's education and experience.
  2. We support free events that bring people together and build our community including Multicultural Night, the Halloween Haunt, Movie Night, Game Night, the Bike Rodeo and Parent's Night Out.
  3. We provide clear channels of communication so that you can find out what's happening at our school and have a forum to share your thoughts.
It only works when people like you volunteer your time and donate funds so that the PTA can staff and cover the costs of these fabulous programs.

There are many ways of supporting our school
